Mindfulness and Social Emotional Learning

This workshop will explore resources and practical ideas to enhance students' social-emotional growth by incorporating mindfulness into classroom practices. Mindfulness and SEL skills can help students develop emotional regulation, empathy, and resilience, which are critical for academic success and personal growth. During this workshop we will consider how the core components of mindfulness can set the stage for social-emotional growth in students.

Mindfulness can help teachers effectively model SEL skills and contributes to fostering a sense of community and belonging among all students. Teachers will gain a deeper understanding of the benefits of mindfulness and SEL for middle school students, as well as practical tools and strategies to implement these practices in their classrooms. Drawing on the shared wisdom of the group, participants will also be invited to share resources and practices that they are currently using in their classroom.
